Loft Conversion Design Trends for 2016

New Year, new trends. Not just in the world of fashion, but in interior design, too. If you’re planning on starting your year with a loft conversion, you’ll want to make sure it looks the part for a modern 2016 home. Here are the best loft conversion ideas that are making the interior design headlines this year:

Industrial Elements

The industrial look has been a trend in loft conversion design for some years now, but in 2016 it looks set to really take off.   Use brick cladding or brick-effect wall paper to give one wall the exposed brick look. Or alternatively, why not use lots of steel elements such as exposed steel beams, to give your loft a modern touch? This look works particularly well if the loft conversion is going to be a self-contained unit. Think Manhattan loft apartment style!

Natural Elements

Natural elements will play a part in all modern interior design projects in 2016, not just loft conversions. If the industrial look is too harsh for you, why not try a wood cladded wall, or wooden exposed beams? This is slightly more rustic than the industrial trend, but still modern and contemporary.

Printed Fabrics

Fabrics that can have motifs printed on them – such as cotton and burlap – will continue to be big in 2016. Add touches of these to your loft conversion in the form of both throw cushions on beds or within seating areas, and framed printed burlap signs and pictures.   Remember to keep the natural colour of the fabric, rather than having it dyed a different shade, so as to be in keeping with the natural elements trend.

Monochrome Bedrooms

In stark contrast to the natural look, many modern bedrooms will lose their colour in 2016. Monochrome will be in in a big way. Think a strong, black wooden bedframe with plain white, simple bed linen, and perhaps contrasting black throw cushions arranged on top.   Similarly, walls will be whiter than white, and interest will be added in the form of chunky black photo frames with black and white prints inside.   Whichever trend takes your fancy in 2016, Bespoke Lofts can help with getting it right. Get your new year off to a great start with a loft conversion, and we’ll make sure it’s on trend.
