There once was a famous interiors company that told us to “chuck out our chintz”. At the time, the height of modernity was minimalism, stylish chrome and block patterns. Whilst these are still great interior design trends, when it comes to home design, flower power has made a huge comeback in recent years.

Cosy Cottage Chic

Floral interior design touches can really transform a cold, blank environment into a cosy and comfortable space. In particular, if your new loft conversion is predominantly going to be a guest bedroom, you’ll want to make it warm and inviting for your friends and family that come to stay.

In this instance, we would suggest going down the ‘granny chic’ look. This doesn’t mean dowdy soft furnishings and trinkets galore, but rather an eclectic mix of fabrics, textures and wallpapers in a small print floral design.

Think pinks, blues, and creams, interspersed with warm afghan throws and real cut flowers in crystal vases; you can even have clashing wallpaper and soft furnishings, as anything goes with cottage chic!

Contemporary Design

Florals don’t have to be kitsch; big, bold, flowery wallpaper or soft furnishings can look incredibly contemporary. Don’t be afraid to finish a feature wall in a modern large print floral wallpaper, or if you want something less permanent, opt for stylish roller blinds and occasional chairs with large flowers as their design.

Boho Bedrooms

Of course, floral can also mean slightly bohemian. Choose a design of wallpaper which is more ‘vintage medallion’ than florals, for example, and add lots of natural touches, such as rustic exposed wooden beams, and dried flowers in cut glass vases.

You can also add floral bohemian touches through the likes of vintage fabric bunting, and chains of artificial flower garlands. Whether you’re looking for an adult retreat, a slightly out-there guest room, or a fairy paradise for a little girl, you’ll nail the floral look through these alternative touches.

If flower power has whetted your appetite for stylish loft conversions, Essex serving Bespoke Lofts can help you to achieve the flowery look in next to no time. Speak to us about how you want your new loft room to feel overall, and once we’ve got the basic design in place, you can start to add your own flowery finishing touches!
