Space Boost In Buckhurst Hill

Buckhurst Hill

"We adore our new home, everything is so much better than we expected. Marc and his team were most accommodating of our wishes and we couldn’t believe how quickly our home was transformed. Thank you!"

Mr & Mrs. J, Buckhurst Hill

This bungalow in Buckhurst Hill had plenty of roof space to make the most of, so the couple’s dream of adding two master bedrooms and his-and-hers bathrooms to the property would soon come true.

In fact, the space in the loft area created by a rear dormer conversion was so extensive that we were able to create not just two large bedrooms and bathrooms but also a walk-in wardrobe and a study room.

At the rear of the property, the dormer ran almost the length of the roof and incorporated four sets of windows which meant that all rooms inside would be bathed in natural light. We were certain to make sure the dormer blended seamlessly with the existing rear façade, which incorporated an attractive veranda overlooking the garden. Six Velux windows at the front of the property further boosted the light and airy feel across the entire new interior.

Incorporating Exotic Tastes

The couple were proud of their exotic tastes which they’d acquired on their worldwide travels and we helped them incorporate those into the décor. The two master bedrooms were very expansive and blended the practicality of built-in storage with bold and very striking style.

His-and-hers bathrooms are perfect for those whose tastes differ and were one of the couple’s main desires. Each had the same footprint yet two quite contrasting finishes were achieved with ‘his’ revealing echoes of the sea and ‘hers’ grounded with earthy tones. Both incorporated a full bath and walk-in shower.

Open Plan Living Space Next on the Agenda

Once the loft conversion was completed, the couple asked us to help create an open plan living space on the ground floor of the property. The existing set-up incorporated separate living and dining rooms and the couple were eager to merge the two spaces.

Taking down the dividing wall opened the space right up and in doing so created an inviting area, perfect for family dinners and evenings with friends spent recounting travellers’ tales.
