Create a Family Home with a Loft Conversion

Loft extensions could be the answer to this problem!

What do we mean? Well, think about an aged bungalow, a small cottage style home, or a terraced house. What they lack in current living space, they make up for in the potential for a loft conversion!

Bungalow Loft Conversions

Bungalows are obvious candidates for adding a loft conversion and thereby creating a family

home. They are well suited to a family home, for a variety of reasons which include, but not limited to, the following:

Generous living accommodation.

Often have spacious gardens.

Flexibility to use the rooms in a variety of ways.

Easy maintenance as window and guttering cleaning is at a lower level.

Of course, if you add a loft conversion, you are technically moving the property away from a bungalow, but you’ll also be blessed with a large floor plan onto which you can create a whole new storey.

Bungalow loft conversions can dramatically increase the size of your home, and we’d recommend adding two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, as well as a  bungalow en-suite in one bedroom. This could potentially take your bungalow from a two bedroom, for example, to a four bedroom! Perfect, therefore, as a family home.

Terraced Loft Conversions

If you live in a Victorian two-up, two-down terrace house, you may be wondering how on earth you could change it into a viable family home. However, simply adding a loft conversion could give you an extra bedroom and a bathroom upstairs.

If you are then able to combine this with a side return extension to create a kitchen diner, and potentially open up some of the ground floor rooms to make an open plan living space, this could easily take your terrace house from teeny tiny to family friendly.

Cottage Loft Conversions

Cottage loft conversions are fairly similar to terraced loft conversions. You might want to tweak a few aspects to make sure that your new loft room is in keeping with your home, but ultimately they could add another bedroom to your loft space, and possibly a bathroom too, space permitting.

Alternatively, why not create a children’s playroom in the loft? With good storage up there for toys and a desk space for homework, this will free up other areas of your home to be more grown up and less cluttered, which might be all you need to take your home to family-friendly No matter what style of home you own or are thinking of buying, a loft conversion can really work wonders for families.
