Three Ways to Add Value to your Home this Year

1.    Loft Conversions

Loft conversions will continue to be a popular way to add value to your home in 2015, and can add up to 20% to your house value, according to a survey conducted by the Nationwide building society[1].   The reasons behind this value increase are clear when you think about the amount of space your house will be gaining; most lofts will easily accommodate a master bedroom plus en suite or dressing room, or a large games room, home office, playroom, or a combination of a few of these room types.

If you are going to convert your loft this year, make sure all work is carried out by professional architects and building contractors, as a poorly executed loft conversion could actually devalue your home.

2. Kitchen Extensions

The kitchen-diner-family room extension continues to be popular this year. If you’re finding it’s becoming a squeeze to work, dine or just generally live in your existing kitchen, this could be the year to do something about it. A well planned extension will almost always add value to your home and as the lifestyle offered by a kitchen-diner is so sought after at the moment, this is a good extension to pick, particularly as the house extension costs will reap far more in resale value.

3. Adding Bedrooms

Creating extra space in any home is always a winner, and additional bedrooms are one of the best ways of boosting your home’s value this year. Whether you decide to opt for a loft conversion, a double storey extension or a granny (or teenager) annexe, you won’t regret adding an additional bedroom. Whatever project you decide to undertake this year, make sure you complete it to the best possible standard. Talk to Bespoke Lofts about all your extension and loft conversion needs, and we’ll help to add value to your home.
