Start a new Business from the Comfort of your Loft Conversion!

Ever thought, “I’d love to run my own business but I just don’t have the space”? Well, if so, now is the time to do something about it. What should you do? Convert your loft, of course! The difference between a loft conversion before and after the work is complete could be all you need to realise your ambitions!

So what sort of career empire could you start from the comfort of your newly converted loft? Here are just a few of our favourite ideas.

Craft Based Businesses

Many a craft hobbyist is turning their passion into a business these days. Whether you have a gift for jewellery making, or are a whizz on the sewing machine, why not convert your loft into a studio or workshop to turn your hobby life into your work life? They say that if you do something you love, you’ll never have to work a day again in your life after all.

Include plenty of natural light in the form of skylights and dormer windows, and plan for lots of artificial light outlets and places where inspection lamps can be plugged in so you’ll have great light to work by year round. Depending on what it is you do, you may also want to include more power sockets than usual, and ensure there is space for a work or cutting table.

Admin Based Roles

Remote working has paved the way for a whole host of admin based jobs that can be undertaken from home. For example, if you have a background as a PA, is it worth looking into becoming a virtual assistant?

Alternatively, the likes of social media management, or freelance graphic design, can be done in the comfort of your loft conversion. Be sure to include a desk large enough to work comfortably at, an ergonomic office chair, and again, plenty of power and internet sockets!

Freelance Photographer

Why not have your newly converted loft serve as your digital darkroom and very own gallery space? If you shoot weddings or family shots, you’ll need somewhere you can show prospective clients your work, and this could be a space separate from the rest of your home.

Why not dedicate one feature wall to some of your photos? Blow them up in varying sizes, frame them and have them hung at random on the wall. It’ll make a striking feature within the room, and will also serve as your portfolio, hung for all to see!

Beauty and Hairdressing

If you work within the beauty or hairdressing industries, or even as a masseuse, having your own personal space from which to work is key. It’ll give your clients privacy and you can make it into a sanctuary that they’ll be longing to visit.

Make sure you’ve installed the relevant plumbing fixtures and fittings you’ll need such as a salon wash unit, and include a large mirror. Then decorate it in stylish yet relaxing tones to make it a true pamper experience.

Whatever home business you’ve got your heart set on, why not convert your loft to get the space that your require? Bespoke Lofts can help install the relevant fixtures and fittings for any business run from the comfort of your new loft conversion.
