Interior Design: The Hottest Colours of 2018

Here’s this year’s pick of the colours, so that you can pick something beautifully fashionable for 2018!

For anyone who works in interior design, one of the most hotly anticipated events of the calendar is the announcement of next year’s colour trends. All the major players in the decorating industry usually have a say in what colours they think are going to be big in the coming months, and it’s always interesting to see how much they agree or differ.

Many a London loft conversion will want to stay ahead of the trend this year, we’re sure. Precisely why we’ve rounded up the hottest colour trends, as predicted by those in the know, to help you choose how to decorate your new loft conversion.

Pantone

Pantone are the big players when it comes to predicting colour trends. For spring 2018 it looks like their colour of choice will be the beautifully named ‘Harbour Mist’. It’s a striking dove grey colour, which works well for a variety of interior uses. So whether you’re looking for a soothing colour for your loft conversion bedroom, or a motivating colour for your home office, this may well be it.

Team it with navy and white for a smart, contemporary look. Alternatively, take inspiration from the rest of the Pantone colour report for 2018 and go for a bold choice such as the bright ‘Little Boy Blue’ or the aptly named ‘Lime Punch’.

Dulux

Dulux has also gone for a colour, which on first glance looks like a grey, but on closer inspection is actually a soft, light pink. ‘Heart Wood’ is a really pretty choice. It’s ‘princess pink’, but more of a slightly metallic, subtle blush pink.

It’s a perfect choice for both children’s bedrooms and grown-up bedrooms and teams well with light blues to deliver a very pretty contrast.

Annie Sloan

Annie Sloan has recently launched a new colour, slightly cryptically called ‘Lem Lem’. It’s actually a refreshing and calming sage green, which can be used on wooden surfaces and furniture. It’s perfect if you want to furnish your loft conversion home office with an antique desk that has seen better days; just give it a coat of Lem Lem to freshen it up in a rustic-chic way!

Farrow and Ball

Farrow and Ball has gone for rich colours in its trend report. The likes of the regal ‘Stiffkey Blue no. 281’ and the cheerful yellow ‘Babouche no. 223’ are not for the faint hearted. But remember, you don’t have to deck your whole room out in these colours; a feature wall can really bring a space to life.If you’re unsure how to decorate your new loft conversion so it’s on trend this year, ask the expert team at Bespoke Lofts for advice.
