How to put the Finishing Touches to your Loft Conversion Guest Room

23.07.15

If you’re thinking about converting your loft into a guest bedroom therefore, or are in the process of doing so, consider the finishing touches that will really turn your room from somewhere your guests lay their head into a home away from home. Here are a few little ideas that can really make your guests feel welcome:

Creature Comforts

If you’re still in the planning stages of your loft conversion guest room, and haven’t already done so, consider incorporating an en-suite bath or shower room into the design. Having your own bathroom and not having to encroach on your host’s space when staying in someone’s house can make all the difference between feeling comfortable and feeling like an intruder.

Make sure you keep the guest en-suite stocked up with fluffy towels, and a supply of toiletries; you want to be aiming for the feel of a boutique hotel room, so that your guests will want for nothing.

Set the Mood

Once you’re at the decorating stage, remember to include the likes of blackout blinds on all windows. These will help your guests get a good night’s sleep and will keep the room cool in the summer months.
Lighting is important in a guest bedroom. If possible, install adjustable dimmer switch lighting to allow your guests to feel comfortable at all times of day. Remember to include reading lights by the bed so that your guests don’t have to get out to switch the light off before sleeping. This can either be in the form of table lamps or small wall lights.

The Finishing Touches

And now for the fun bit! To make your guests really feel at home, we’d suggest a few final finishing touches to show that you care. These can include:
·         Displaying the WIFI code in a pretty frame so that your guests can get online easily. ·           Leaving a selection of books and magazines out for your guests to browse through.
·         If your guests are from out of town, how about including leaflets or guidebooks for local           attractions, or recommendations for what you would suggest they see and do?
·         A small travel kettle and coffee station or hospitality tray, so that your guests feel like they’re   in a cosy B&B.
·         A place for your guests to store their belongings, ideally an empty wardrobe and / or chest of   drawers, and an empty bedside cabinet.
